- Description
Junior Accounts Assistant or AAT to move into IT Support. You need an interest in software and IT, and will have the opportunity to train up as an Application Support Consultant and transfer your accounting knowledge to the software support area. Starting salary is from £18 - £23k, with lots of career progression and regular salary reviews. Lovely company to work for with a great management team and lots of training.
This is a specialist software company offering very sophisticated Business and ERP solutions for Accounts and Management Information and Business Management to niche market clients' in a specialist area.
This new role is for a junior person to join the application support team and get trained up in accounting and ERP software support. There is potential to move into software implementation, consulting, client training or business analysis later in your career.
They are looking for someone who understands accounts, ledgers, purchase-to-pay, bookkeeping or budgeting & finance and is interested in the IT and software side, so you could be currently working as an Accounts Assistant, or maybe you have studied Accounting during your degree, or you have completed an AAT or MAAT course. Or maybe you are already supporting accounting software in a similar role (such as at Unit4) and are looking for a move to a nicer company?
You will get lots of software training and help, indeed they are very happy to develop your skills and help you grow into this role, which they have successfully done in the past with junior level accounts people.
The continued success of the company is through providing their clients with great software support and they have a team of 4 people in their Application Support team. One of these people has 10 years' experience of the software and another one has over 5 years' experience, so you can be sure that you will have very skilled people to work with and learn from. The 2nd line support guy who deals with escalated support calls has worked for the company for 20 years, so this should give you an indication of what a great company they are to work for.
The role of an Accounting & ERP Software Support Consultant is to work on the helpdesk and deal with customers queries and problems, which come through to you by telephone and by email. You will need to login remotely to the customers' computers and look at their screen to see what the problem is, or sometimes the problem is easy enough to solve by just speaking to them on the phone and talking them through the fix. You are responsible for keeping a log of your support calls, documenting the problem and taking it through to resolution.
Software Support is a very rewarding role, where you get to use your problem solving skills to fix people's problems, and you build long term relationships with your clients.
Please note that you do need accounting, finance, bookkeeping or ERP software experience for this job. It is not a role for someone who does PC support and has no finance knowledge. And you need to be personable; you get on easily with people and you like talking to people on the phone and helping them with their problems. The Support Desk is open from 9 - 5 each day, and you should be able to give friendly, helpful and efficient help to your clients.
This is a full time permanent job, but it could be part-time, possibly 3 or 4 days per week.
