- Description
Key role in a thriving, global software consultancy as Director of Project Management. Reporting to the COO, this is a Head of Delivery role and the top job in the Professional Services team here. You will hold responsibility for 12 Project Managers, 2 people in PMO and 35+ ERP Implementation Consultants, managing over 150 concurrent projects at any one time, and will have ultimate control and accountability for managing all ERP software implementation project delivery across the UK, Europe, and Ireland. To £100k base, plus £6k car allowance, bonus scheme and private healthcare.
Your focus will be the management of the entire project implementation team, giving direction on project management processes, project scope and variations, project reporting, project controls and ensuring that the business aspects and processes of all ERP projects are adhered to, and that delivery is on time and to schedule and budget. Key responsibilities will be man management, project scheduling, resource management, recruitment and performance appraisals, and PM, consultant, and resource allocation.
Maintenance, management and development of project tools and project management methods will also be under your remit, and you will probably want to select and implement a new technology-based project management system, to further develop the project management methodologies.
As the Project Management Director, you will also hold hands-on responsibility for the direct management of a very small selection of their top tier 1 clients and manage and nurture these client relationships from a direct project perspective. Projects can be anything from one day to £1 million.
They are looking for an experienced and credible Senior ERP Project Management professional who has managed an ERP or Professional Services team of at least 20 people and is qualified in structured project management methods such as Prince 2. You are brilliant at project scoping and planning, developing project methods and controls and looking at risk and workstreams, plus a true leader, a people person, who can be assertive, take control, and lead and manage a large team, whilst keeping them motivated and on side and happy.
You have run a large consulting team in a client facing role for a reseller, software author, or consultancy, and understand what the full software implementation life cycle entails and how to juggle 100 things at once. You can drive quality into the project management of the team, the project processes, and the technology.
Personally, you are motivated, calm under pressure, analytical, detailed, and methodical, an expert at prioritising, escalating, delegating and conflict management, a stickler for documentation and record & time keeping. You are resilient, a diplomat when handling tricky issues with the team or the client, and you gain respect through your integrity and honesty.
You can be home based much of the time but will have to travel to the office twice a month, so you need to be in reasonable distance of Berkshire, so that does not become a long term draw back for you.
If you think you are up for the challenge and fit the bill, contact Jake King or Carolyn MacLurg at Ambis Resourcing for full details.
