Description

This is a super role for someone who really enjoys application support but is keen to progress into consulting and software implementation sometime soon. This mid-sized ERP Consultancy of around 40 staff, has had a successful 25 years in the software business and they encourage people to progress in their support careers, by gradually getting involved in software upgrades, consultancy, implementation, and training or into software development or project management.

They would like a personable, communicative, and outgoing Application Support Analyst or Support Consultant who has some experience of supporting ERP or WMS software, or something like construction or automotive software, fleet management, MIS, MRP, accounts software, dealer management, supply chain, retail software or similar. Or you could be working in IT support, but have a background in warehousing or accounts or inventory and understand the business elements of where ERP software fits in. They'll pay up to £30k; there is some flexibility for some work from home days, but the business is quite office centric, so you need to be able to commute to the north side of Southampton, near Chilworth, with ease.

You will learn their ERP solution in depth, and it has a vast number of elements to it including manufacturing, inventory control, purchasing, distribution, sales and CRM, accounting, HR, fleet management, WMS (warehousing), business intelligence, traceability, and planning. Alongside that you'll be getting involved in web applications and learning SQL, so you need to be keen to increase your skillset.

You are someone who can take the pressure when faced with deadlines or difficult customers or complex support requests; you stay calm, you have a process for thinking through problems, and you dig deep for solutions. Your job will be to respond to client enquiries regarding problems with their ERP package, taking ownership of each case, working through each one logically and thoroughly, troubleshooting and fixing bugs, using SQL to interrogate problems, and liaising with the developers where required.

Your profile:

  • Some experience supporting application software, either ERP solutions, or similar business application software
  • Or good general IT support knowledge, with a background in inventory, warehousing, accounting, finance or manufacturing or merchants.
  • SQL skills would be a bonus as would Crystal Reports, or networking or development skills, but these are not essential by any means
  • A keen interest in business as well as technology
  • Eager to learn the latest integrated ERP application
  • Proactive, analytical, a good problem solver
  • Passion for providing the best customer service to your clients
  • Able to commute to the Eastleigh / North Southampton / Chilworth area
  • Patient and tactful when your clients are in a panic

This is a dynamic and vibrant environment, where you will learn many new skills and work alongside some of the best ERP Consultants. Plus, the MD is just a great guy to work for. Contact Jake King or Carolyn MacLurg at Ambis Resourcing.
