- Description
Professional Services Manager to work for a software reseller and manage the consulting and support teams. This position would suit a very experienced Application Software Project Manager (ERP, WMS, CRM, MRP or similar complex software) who has worked for a reseller or consultancy and is looking for a career position with autonomy and control. The role is office based in Birmingham with a starting salary to £65k plus car allowance, fuel card and profitability bonus.
The job is to manage the consulting and support teams as well as be the Senior Project Manager for WMS (Warehouse Management) software implementation projects. This is a lynchpin position as they are a consulting company, and getting the projects delivered is the backbone of the whole business.
As the PS Manager you will help the sales team with deals, getting involved in the presentations and meetings, then you will pick up the project after the sale, work through the hand over and kick off meetings. Then you will work with the consultants through the discovery and scoping stage to create a project plan. Your background will be project management, within an enterprise application software consultancy environment, such as ERP, CRM, MRP, WMS, or any similar "difficult" project environment.
You will then act as the link between the client and the consulting / technical team, managing the change, creep, scope change, chivvying the client along, corralling the consultants and keeping the client happy and informed.
What the Professional Services Manager won't do is consulting, design or architecture, requirements, training, software implementation or go-live. These will all be handled by your Project Managers and Implementation Consultants.
The company is in the business of warehouse management software and they are part of a larger group with a £30m turnover who cover ERP, WMS, CRM and MRP software. WMS involves complete control of stock in and out of the warehouse, stock selection and wastage, bar code scanning, pick & pack, voice picking, warehouse mapping, dispatch, returns, receipting and much more.
The job could well lead to board directorship; the Group Company nurture senior leadership talent and there are lots of opportunities within the group to move up.
What is good about this role is they have just completed 2 large, complex projects and they need to roll out the WMS solution to 70 other sites but that is just normal work, the tricky bits have already been done. They have a great sales pipeline and will be closing some nice deals in the next few months, so you will have a steady flow of projects and the chance to hand pick your new team as the work load increases.
You will report to the group MD who is in the office twice a month normally, so you will have huge autonomy. You will be able to make a lot of your own decisions, but he is only a phone call away when you need him.
The office has just been refurbished with new furniture, carpets and décor, so it has a modern and attractive feel to it.
This is a long-term career position, that would suit a highly experienced Enterprise Software Project Manager who wants more control, more power and lots of autonomy. You will need to be in the office most days, so proximity to Birmingham is important.
