Graduate Trainee Programmer or Software Developer

Terrific opportunity for a Graduate Software Developer or Graduate Programmer to join a software company that works with a variety of ERP and CRM software products in the distribution and manufacturing markets, including a product that is built and developed by themselves. They have been in business for over 30 years, have around 40 staff and work with the latest Microsoft products. They will train you up in their programming languages and tools and get your IT career off to a great start. Starting salary to £25k plus full training.

They are looking for a bright, enthusiastic Graduate with a good degree in Computer Science or a similar subject with a large content of programming modules such as Software Engineering, Information Technology or Computer Engineering. If you have had a work placement, so much the better. They would like someone who is passionate about software development, has a thirst for learning and wants to make a career in programming.

Full training will be provided in Visual Basic, Visual Studio, Progress (a 4GL programming language) and MS SQL Server and SSRS. Any skills you have already gained in these areas will be beneficial. You will then be able to create reports and functions, alter and amend existing reports, libraries and functions and complete tasks on time and to budget. You will also develop new programs to detailed specs provided by one of their analysts and build application software on new client machines. You will perform tests on your work and then send them to the software testing guys, for full tests and approval.

You need to be a good communicator as you will be dealing directly with their clients by telephone and email on a day to day basis, sorting out their queries and problems. You have great attention to detail, your work is concise and you are able to follow and work to a spec without adding unnecessary code.

They work with many other technologies as well, including SQL, SQL Server, Exchange, SharePoint, C#, and Windows Server.
