- Description
ERP Project Manager for a new role with a thriving software reseller in Southampton. Office based in Southampton 1 or 2 days a week visiting clients once or twice a week with very few overnight stays. Salary to £50k plus car allowance.
They sell, implement and support two different ERP solutions and have a team of 15 consultants and software developers.
At the moment there are some of the usual problems - projects are getting delivered late, the clients are allowed to creep and extra functionality is given away, and these are causing management problems.
So a Project Manager needs to come in and set up the processes or more likely re-establish the processes and good practice. You will work with the project coordinator and the Consulting Director to set up, run and manage the processes and procedures.
This role would suit someone with a thick skin who can handle conflict and is happy to talk about effort, activity and results in a positive analytical way. You will have been PM on ERP projects (or similar application software) and will have a good understanding of the implementation life cycle, managing budgets and resources, and developing project plans, and identifying risks associated with projects and creating mitigation plans.
The other part of the job is dealing with the customers, making sure that they know what is expected of them and keeping up the activity needed for a successful project of ERP implementation.
Your background:
You are likely to have a very strong background in ERP project management of projects from £20k to £200k. You will probably have worked as an ERP Consultant in the past, so you will understand the issues involved and be able to understand and sympathise with the consultants but also recognise when they need to knuckle down and stop moaning.
You will be very client facing and have solid understanding of the business process, so that when it comes to project scope and creep you can understand the statement of works and what is included and what is not.
You should be able to articulate the problem statement and openly bring up challenges and roadblocks, and negotiate, influence and drive solutions with team members for tactical and strategic reasons. You will look after issue resolution, change control, and risk management processes, create and maintain comprehensive project plans and manage schedules, status, and updates at project and team level.
This is a pivotal role within the business and a chance to make a massive difference to the profitability of the company by tightening up the project management processes and procedures. You will become part of the leadership team.
