Application Support Consultant

Nice role for an Application Support Analyst or Support Consultant with one of our favourite clients. The company is an author & supplier of an ERP solution for manufacturing & distribution companies with full integration to e-commerce and retail, enabling them to provide complete solutions for any combination of manufacturer, distributor, retailer or web sales operation. Salary to £30k plus benefits. They are based near Erdington and Fort Dunlop on the east side of Birmingham.

They also have a role for a Support Team leader to run a group of 9 people - paying up to £38k - so if you have managed support staff that one might be the right level for you.

Your background needs to focus on application support experience within any business software solution, so it could be ERP or CRM or HR or property management, HR, payroll, manufacturing, MRP, WMS, finance, field service software, DMS, construction software or accounting software. And the more technical skills you have acquired, the easier you will get stuff fixed.

You:

You could be a junior support consultant on £20k looking for a chance to learn and grow. Or you could be a highly experienced support consultant or support analyst, used to fielding complex calls and just happy to work in a company where the support team are valued and respected. They are very open minded as to how much experience you have.

The applications support team work on telephone calls and also get a lot of support tickets through the online Portal. They use their own software to log and track the calls, which is nice. The calls are focused on the ERP solution but inevitably you will get involved in issues like: databases, SQL Server,

hardware, servers, webservers and networks / firewalls.

You don't need to have previous knowledge of these things but you must be open minded and not terrified of them. So if you have to look at SQL Server and do a SQL View you must be prepared to try. That said, there is a technical team so you will not be doing technical support.

Their ERP software sits on .Net technology and is developed to n-tier standards using 100% .Net managed code. In tandem with the Microsoft SQL Server database environment and all associated Microsoft tools, it provides a very powerful and leading-edge ERP solution.

You will be joining the team of 9 application support consultants work with an additional 3 people in the technical services team providing a superb level of customer support to the client base of over 300 clients. Some of the clients have over 100 users across all areas of the business including sales, manufacturing, accounts, warehousing, distribution, and ecommerce. So the calls are varied and interesting, and the team are upbeat and happy.
