Description

Technical Consultant and Data Specialist - this is a client facing position for someone who can work on the complex technical problems that occur during the implementation of ERP and supply chain software and find solutions, focusing on the data and database aspects of the implementation. So the role will be dealing with the datafiles that need to be imported into the software and also exported out to other ERP solutions that are integrated. The role is mainly office based near Redditch, but there is a need to visit clients and you can expect 1 day each week on client site and the occasional night away. Salary to £50k + car allowance and benefits.

So this is a job for someone who likes solving puzzles. You will have a background of dealing with data and your skillset will include SQL Server, SQL scripting, SQL statements, SQL queries and SQL joins, TSQL, report writing, creating SSIS solutions and minor DBA duties. You will have also strong Excel and VBA experience. You will love the challenge of dealing with data and getting anomalies sorted out.

You will also be happy to run a meeting with a customer and be happy putting your point across to make sure that the implementation and the project work well. You will be happy to manage yourself and your time and be comfortable planning a project of up to say 20 days of work. You must be able to run these projects as you will not be closely managed, so if you get stuck you will need to know when to ask for help.

You will work on data conversion dealing with huge quantities of data and converting it using Excel, VBA, CSV files and specialist ETL tools and you will do lots of testing of the data, and integration with other solutions.

Another part of the role is more SQL work, talking to the clients, understanding the requirements and writing SQL scripts and SQL statements.

You will need to understand the software's database structure and become the company expert on SQL scripting and report writing. You won't be doing any training, but you will get sub projects of 20 days which you will handle on your own and manage others as well.

The company are experts in supply chain, stock & inventory and demand planning software. You need to have worked with a software provider in these fields, or to have worked in a data and technical role at an end user company who are involved in supply chain, stock & inventory or demand planning.

You understand the business processes of these industries and can work alongside the solution architect to write technical statements of work during the software implementations and assist the pre-sales team where necessary. Your analysis and problem-solving skills are superb and you communicate well with people at all levels from shop floor to board level and can clearly discuss risks, issues and the status of the implementation.

Projects are interesting and diverse across many industries; it's a challenging environment where you will play a key role and can really put your ideas into practice and help shape the business.
