Application Support Analyst - ERP and SQL knowledge

This high growth, importer, wholesaler and distribution company based near Crewe in Cheshire, is looking for a savvy, enthusiastic Application Support Consultant / Support Analyst with some experience of ERP software support and some SQL skills, who would also like to get involved in some business analysis and WMS integration work. In the long term, this role will lead to taking over day to day responsibility of the support and management of their internal ERP solution.

This would suit someone who is inquisitive and enjoys a technical challenge - someone who likes to figure stuff out and likes to play with and learn new technology and software. ERP and SQL are the core skills, if you also have any experience of the Sage X3 ERP solution, then that would a bonus. Negotiable salary to £30k, or to £35k if you have some Sage X3 expertise already.

This new position is Application Support of the ERP solution and also doing some requirements and business analysis and working with the SQL Server database. So the key skills are ERP application support, some knowledge of SQL Server, and it would be great if you can write SQL scripts.

The company has been in business for over 40 years and in the past 6 years, they have tripled in size and they have future plans to double again. This is a high growth, entrepreneurial business that is an exciting place to work. Their core ERP solution is Sage X3 ERP, and the key standard modules they run include accounting, sales, inventory, manufacturing, purchasing, and CRM, with custom built costings, sales order management and container management modules. The X3 solution is interfaced to a B2B web trading platform, EDI and V1 document management solution and integrated with additional inventory solutions.

You will be the assistant to the IT Director, and will help him with a big integration project of a WMS (Warehouse Management System) to the ERP solution, with a view to taking over day to day responsibility for the ERP system. So the initial support role will be application support for the users, data management, warehouse operations, report writing, daily back-ups and ERP integration work. So there are a lot of interesting things to learn and get your teeth into.

They have an IT helpdesk with 5 full time people, they do all their own IT, desktop, and infrastructure support, escalating issues to suppliers and vendors where necessary. You can work from home 1 or 2 days a week, but the more you are in the office, the more you get to know the users and their needs, and talk through their issues with them, so this is a good position for someone who enjoys interacting with people.
