- Description
We're looking for an Accounts Assistant or Finance Assistant join this buzzing young technology company, who are doing superbly well in their niche software market, and that success has continued through all the trials and tribulations of 2020. They are flexible and the job could be full-time (37.5 hour week) or part-time (3 or 4 days a week), to fit in with your lifestyle.
The role is a one year maternity cover position, but it is expected to become a permanent position after the assistant returns from maternity leave. Flexible starting salary to £27k based on your experience level and pro-rata if you are part-time; it is based in Redditch which is a great location for people living in Warwick, Bromsgrove, Halesowen, Solihull, Worcester, Stratford upon Avon and Birmingham. They are in walking distance of Redditch railway station. The business is full of bright, energetic, young people who work hard, but enjoy life to the full.
So this is an Accounts Assistant role to do all the normal finance things. However the company is growing and this finance team look after the accounting requirements for 4 other global offices in Europe and one in the USA, which means there are lots of intercompany transfers and currency issues that can happen. Plus the department here is not very "corporate" so they still do lots of accounts work on Excel, which is sent to their external accountants to process on Sage. In truth, the accounts department can be a little disorganised and chaotic and guide lines are often changed, so you need to be able to cope with this!
This would suit someone who is happy to work on their own initiative, someone who can stick to processes but doesn't mind being flexible when it is appropriate. And someone who can cope with a bit of chaos sometimes and have a laugh with the team. If you are studying AAT or ACCA or similar, or already have accounting qualifications (or a degree, or further college studies in accounting) that would be brilliant too.
You need a good general all-round background as an Accounts Assistant or Finance Assistant, and you know how to deal with all the standard accounts processes like invoicing, billing, purchases, expenses, payment runs, reconciliations etc. A strong, confident personality would help in this role as you will have to deal with some difficult characters sometimes, who are used to being a bit pushy with the accounts team! Good communication and organisation skills are required, as well as strong Excel and MS Office. You are motivated, proactive and keen to progress and make a difference.
The position will cover:
- Managing & processing customer invoicing with accuracy and speed
- Preparing payment runs
- Handling employee expenses & credit card receipts, making sure they are allocated accurately
- Billing, credit control and debtor chasing
- Patient, polite, can-do attitude for dealing with urgent or difficult situations sometimes
- Dealing with queries and resolving them using your initiative, but asking for help when needed
- Completing supplier reconciliations, and liaising with the bank, insurers etc.
- Helping the Finance Manager with monthly management reporting
- Answering email and telephone queries from clients and suppliers
- Managing reconsolidation and intercompany recharges
- Assisting with the day to day running of the accounts department
This software company has over 1,000 customers, 300+ staff and over a dozen global offices. Their growth rate is terrific, and this is a fantastic opportunity to join a busy department lead by a supportive and encouraging management team who thrive on achieving a happy workplace.
