Description

Application Support Analyst / Accounts Software Support Consultant role with an exceptionally successful global software company with offices in 6 countries, and a superb office in Milton Keynes. They are the leading software provider in their niche market and have over 5,000 staff across the world. The package on offer is £35-40k plus profit share and private health insurance. They would like you to be living within 90 minutes commute of Milton Keynes. At the moment, everyone is still working from home, but there is a great vibe in the office and lots of knowledge sharing and team building, so eventually you will probably need to go to the Milton Keynes office twice a week.

This position is to work on their newest software solution (aimed at smaller businesses) which is cloud based, sold as a SaaS product, and runs on a SQL Server database. Clients are able to ask for help and contact support through an online chat portal, and the product is expected to sell exceptionally well here in the UK, so the support team and the consultancy team will grow dramatically, offering great career opportunities.

The job has the combination of mainly application support, plus assisting with some remote implementations of the software solution and a small amount of project management. The key skills required are proven application support of accounting software, some technical skills ideally SQL or SQL Server, plus any knowledge of property management software or the property market would be very useful.

This is very much a relationship building job, your clients will be with you for years. The most important skill is the ability to communicate with these external clients, plus your colleagues, the software developers, the implementation consultants and external accounts people. So it would suit someone who is a bit of an extrovert, finds it easy to engage with people, and loves solving problems, and understands the accounts payable and accounts receivable processes. Plus this role would suit someone who follows through on issues, pays attention to detail and gets things finished.

You need experience of the accounting elements of application software (or an accounting qualification such as AAT plus application software support skills), or you may have supported property management software with a strong accounting element. Their clients are successful property companies and investors with extensive portfolios of commercial and residential units.

So you will have worked in a support role dealing with problems with accounting software solutions such as Xero, Sage 200, BrightPearl, Dynamics NAV, PS Financials, Pegasus Opera, Access Dimensions, Sage 50, SunSystems, SAP Business One, Exchequer, Dynamics AX, eFinancials, Coda Dream, or similar.

Or you may be an Application Support Consultant working with ERP software, property software, dealer management systems like Pinewood or Kerridge, construction software such as COINS or something similar, which has an accounting or finance module that you deal with. You understand accounts payable and receivable within the software and are competent helping clients with queries.

Hopefully you are well educated, you have bags of enthusiasm, great customer service skills and love helping people out. Ideally you will also know how to interrogate databases using SQL. You can take the pressure when the heat is on, you can deal tactfully and empathetically with people who can be difficult and demanding at times when their software won't work, and you are tolerant and patient.

You will look after client queries, communicating by phone, email, web chat and remote connection and prioritising the problems, logging your calls, documenting your work and finding solutions yourself, or escalating issues where necessary. Some queries are small fixes or information needed, others can be quite complex problems. They want people with initiative who can find stuff out and take personal responsibility for the client, owning the issue and taking it all the way to resolution if possible.

Their solution has lots of ERP software functionality and covers property rentals, property maintenance, tenants, rent collections, real estate, accounting, finance and billing, property listings, asset management, maintenance & repairs and facilities management. It is built with the latest technology. The company is very successful, turns over £600 million and is growing at the rate of 15% per year.

This is a fast-moving environment, and the team of support staff, consultants and project managers are motivated, bright, energetic and constantly learning and sharing knowedge.
