- Description
This busy company in the distribution and wholesale markets, is upgrading their ERP system presently and then early next year, moving to a cloud based, much bigger version of the software. They need a self-sufficient IT and ERP all-rounder, to help with the implementation, analysis, and data transfer, user training, and report writing. You would be the only in-house IT person, working with the software vendor on the implementation and for future upgrades (plus the software partner does the day to day support for the business), and they have an external hardware and networking guy, and a freelance web company who look after the website upgrades and changes.
They are looking for someone with some ERP experience and good all round IT knowledge, someone who is happy use their initiative, to try things and make mistakes and try again, although obviously, getting it right first time is preferable! You are passionate about IT and ERP, inquisitive and enthusiastic, and like to make a difference and help a business make the most of their ERP system and increase profits.
You will need to be within commuting distance of the Chelmsford / Maldon area in Essex and be happy working with a young busy, team who are all big technology fans and excited about the ERP system upgrade and the opportunities that the new system will bring to move the business forward. They will pay £30-40k depending on how much experience you have to offer.
They are in the building supply trade, and have 4 branches with big plans to grow, so you will have the chance to help with that growth and eventually increase the IT department and staff.
The MD is a huge fan of technology and software. He has an agenda of moving the business forward through the best new technology and is determined to push it through as soon as possible, so working on the systems and project side here, you will have a lot of support from him and massive appreciation for what you are bringing to the company.
So your background will be some ERP and application software experience, some software implementation and support, knowledge of SQL ideally, report writing, business analysis, organising Excel spreadsheets, training the staff, even some networking and hardware would be useful. You are an all-rounder, you like getting your hands dirty, you love learning new technology, and you thrive on coming up with ideas that improve ROI for the company and move them forward. You are happy to dig in and get involved in all aspects of the ERP system and to make your mark. If you want to get involved in the website as well, or any other aspects of IT, you will have the freedom to do so.
