Description

Project Coordinator role for a busy, niche market application software company in Southampton that sells and installs world class ERP, Finance, Warehousing and eCommerce software. Reporting to a busy Project Manager you will co-ordinate the activities of multiple software projects, liaising with clients and software consultants to help these projects run smoothly and on time and to budget. Starting salary to £28k, which will rise to £30k after 3 months' probation, plus benefits, free parking and 5 weeks holiday.

This software consultancy has up to 16 projects running simultaneously. The Project Manager is also the manager of the consulting team and currently and he runs these projects. He has a Project Coordinator who has done an amazing job over the last few years, but she is leaving in January, so he is looking for a bright Project Coordinator to work with him doing some of the project tasks that he struggles to complete.

The Project Manager sets up the project plans, then it is your responsibility to talk to the clients and consultants (from IT Managers to Managing Directors, to Software Consultants) to chase up tasks and dates, co-ordinate between all parties, and schedule meetings and training. You will provide project progress reports to their clients, generate project statement reports, create schedules, look after the risk logs and participate in project meetings.

Activities include:

  • Booking meetings and looking after consultants' diaries
  • Chasing tasks and dates and ensuring they are running in line with project plans
  • Calling customers for information or updates on the projects
  • Generating reports and running risk logs
  • Booking hotels and accommodation for the Consultants and Project Manager
  • Liaising with Consultants and scheduling consultant and client meetings
  • Booking software training days
  • Forecasting Consultants time (time used on a project vs time left)

You will deal with all sorts of people at all levels, so you need to be confident on the phone, and able to work confidently with busy people who can be a bit stressed. They are looking for a pro-active, well organised person, with excellent communication skills, and a fine eye for detail who understands the software industry. You will already be working in a Project Coordinator role or as a Project Administrator or you will be a Junior Project Manager; you understand something about the software business and will be looking to work for a company where you can become a PM in the future.

The job has real potential for you to develop and become a Project Manager, so there is a terrific career path and lots of training. You will work with very nice people and have lots of support. This is a happy bunch of people in a growing, ambitious software company.

The current Project Coordinator leaves in January 2018 so it would be great to get a hand over by starting in January.
