- Description
Overview of this new role - a Project Manager with some background in software development, and some experience of ERP software, to run a team of 8 software developers and deliver first class service to external clients and internal ERP consultants - who wants to become more involved in development and become the Development Manager or wants to grow the role into a Customer Success Manager position in the future. Starting salary to £50k, must be commutable to the Alfreton / Nottingham / Mansfield areas.
You will be someone with a "laser focus" on providing a great service to people, be that an internal consultant requesting development work for the ERP cloud solution or an external customer. So this needs to be a person who really cares about the service delivery and is happy to bang heads internally (if necessary) to get needs met.
This job could well morph into a full Software Development Manager role, or into a Senior Customer Success Manager role - or who knows what - it's a real opportunity for someone. You will need to be ready to get your teeth into it with a lot of energy, so it won't be a 9-5 role to start with.
Why is this an awesome job?
- Newly created position
- Reporting directly to the MD / Technical Director
- Chance to create your own processes and procedures
- Working on true cloud ERP software
- Managing a great team of .Net cloud software developers
- A chance to really improve things and make a difference
This young dynamic team of 8 software developers work on the most exciting cloud ERP development projects. They are using all of the latest technology and various tools for analytics, point & click customisation, API's, UI objects, web integrations, custom dashboards, utilising .Net, C#, Java, JavaScript, PHP, and various other languages and tools. The team is managed by the Technical Director.
The objectives are to project manage their development projects around:
- Kick off and progress meetings with the clients
- Managing the client relationships
- Checking that the spec vs scope vs functionality is all on track
- Making sure the overall development project objectives are on track with functionality
- To get software developed and delivered within the timeframe it has been sold
- To manage the development projects so the team are motivated and engaged
- Liaising with clients
You will be an experienced client facing Project Manager in an ERP consulting environment and you have enough of a software development project background to be able to empathise with the developers about the struggles they are having.
You will have worked in a commercial development environment in your past where work has to be delivered to time and budget, where perfection comes second to deadlines.
You will have worked on projects with a functionality such as e-commerce, finance, distribution, manufacturing, or CRM and be used to clients individual requirements.
You will be able learn the technical and development jargon quickly, and communicate the developers, and crucially be able to see through the cloud of jargon to help them.
You will be happy talking to clients and very accustomed to every client thinking that their project is the most urgent thing in the world, and should be the top of everyone's to do list!
You will probably have run interviews for development roles and will have been involved in hiring some developers, as well as doing reviews and appraisals.
You will know if you are doing this job well, because projects will be delivered in less time than allocated.
Location: You will need to be commutable to their offices near Alfreton, Nottingham, and Mansfield as all the developers are local and normally they work together in the office. So you will need to be with them as their Manager, for 2 days a week in the office and sometimes out on client sites as well as working from home. Contact Jake King or Carolyn MacLurg at Ambis Resourcing.
