- Description
IT Manager - busy permanent role based near Wakefield, West Yorkshire. This rapidly expanding company has grown organically from 85 people 2 years ago, to 150 staff this year. They are looking for a technically minded, innovative IT Manager with current skills to include hardware & software support, previous experience as an IT Manager, good knowledge of technical management, and analysis and hands on experience with computer networks, network administration and network installations. Application software knowledge is also required - ERP, MRP, Supply Chain, WMS or anything similar. Salary to £48k + £5k annual bonus. You will be office based but can work from home pretty flexibly for 3 or 4 days a week.
This company has been in business for 28 years and has an excellent client base and reputation in their market where they run large projects for retail customers. As IT Manager here you will look after all the software, hardware, and telephony of their IT installations. This will include the infrastructure side covering servers, networks, hardware, MS Exchange, VMWare, Windows, Active Directory, backups, PBX and Mail servers, as well as their ERP and WMS solutions. Their current Sage 200 software covers the accounts, ERP and finance, back office systems and HR and payroll, plus they use Sicon Sage 200 add-ons, and WMS software as well.
As IT Manager, you will manage, evaluate and control their information technology and systems, run the IT budget, identify areas for improvement, develop IT systems and policies, ensure network access and backup procedures and audit their systems. You will support the 150 users for PC / Desktop Support, Mobile, Telephony, Infrastructure and application software. You will cover first and second line support and then escalate problems you can't deal with, to 3rd party partners that are contracted to provide support.
This is a busy IT support and management job with lots of daily tasks. The interesting bit about this, is the project work. So you could be involved in upgrading the server, selecting new ERP software, selecting new WMS or service management or estimating software, or even looking at a new website design for them, so your remit as IT Manager covers a wide variety. So this is a job that involves the day to day regular grind of IT support and then the interest of being in charge of projects, and selection of suppliers and of new software.
You will have previous IT management experience, you will be someone full of ideas and capable of managing all their application software as well as hardware, networks and infrastructure. Additional experience of Excel, Access, and VBA, would all be useful skills, along with an understanding or experience of application software implementation. They have grown so fast (and are still growing in the current pandemic) that they are behind technically. They really need new stock management and warehousing systems, and field service software to run their 45 vans and drivers in the field, so there is a lot to get your teeth into.If you live in commuting distance of the West Yorkshire area, and are excited at the prospect of taking this role on, then get in touch with Jake King or Carolyn MacLurg at Ambis Resourcing or send us a recent up-to-date CV.
