- Description
This role is for an ERP Software Implementation Consultant / Professional Services Consultant who has worked with manufacturing or engineering companies and is able to converse with production controllers, production planners and engineers about their business processes and requirements. You will be based from home with travel to client sites, and ideally you will live in the South or South West of England anywhere from Birmingham to the South Coast. A competitive package is on offer of up to £50k base, plus £5k car allowance and a bonus scheme that can be up to £12k per annum.
The niche and functionally rich ERP product you will work with is a USA software product that is a fully up to date SQL Server and .Net solution. There are still some clients running the old version but all new deals are on SQL Server. Our client is the sole European consulting firm for this US software product and as about 400 clients use the product, they are very busy with upgrades and new deals.
Their ERP solution is very niche within the engineered discrete manufacturing space, so firms that make one off products for customers that are highly engineered use the product and it is very strong in aerospace, defence and specialist engineering. The functionality of this ERP software solution is all around project costing and comparing the estimates with the actuals. So profitability is essential for the clients' business processes and the job costing aspect of the solution is key.
The marketing and sales team are bringing in new deals and the company need to hire at least one extra Consultant to cope with the workload. The position is working in a team of 7 ERP Consultants and Support Analysts; they have separate technical and software development teams.
You will work on projects with clients going through the complete implementation process from requirements to go-live and you will focus on the manufacturing aspects of the project. If you have finance knowledge then that is great, but the most important thing is the ability to talk to the production controllers, production planners and engineers about the processes they have and their needs which are based on engineer and manufacture to order. If you have ETO (Engineer To Order) experience this would really put you ahead of the game.
The software product has a lot of configurability and you will use your analysis skills to find out exactly how the clients want the solution uniquely set up for themselves. So a background of consulting, business analysis and workshops is essential and SQL is very useful. You will cover the engineering, manufacturing, planning aspects of the project. Typical competitor products are IFS, Dynamics AX, Epicor, Oracle and SAP. Their solution exceeds most other ERP products and includes ETO, specialist Supply Chain Management, Product Lifecycle Management, CRM, EDI, Estimating, Project Costing and Quoting.
The job is home based and you will work on site with clients typically 3 days a week and be at home for 2 days. However, for some of the defence clients it might be 4 days a week on site. The clients are all over the UK, but the new deals at the moment are mainly in South East England, so it would be easiest if you lived South of Birmingham. There is also some travel to European clients
They pay a base salary of up to £50K with a car allowance of £5K and a bonus based on billable days that can be up to £1000 per month. This role will need involve working on secure sites and you will need to be security cleared, so a British passport and British citizenship is essential.
Why is this a great job?

- Each project is unique as each client has highly specific needs
- The solution works really well and clients like it
- Technically it is a nice solution to work on
