Description

Are you an enthusiastic Application Support Consultant with experience of supporting clients with their payroll and HR / workforce queries? Or maybe you have worked extensively with payroll software in a payroll department, you are technically savvy and are keen to move into software support. This is a home based position for a Payroll & HR Application Support Analyst who is customer focused, has superb problem solving skills and can communicate with people in non-technical language and be patient and understanding with their questions. To £32k plus good benefits. The position is based from home; but there could be the occasional need to go into the office so ideally you live within about an hour of Slough.

The role is with a leading global software provider in a niche market and their product is an ERP solution with a large payroll, workforce management & HR module. You will provide application support by telephone, email and remote connection to a large client base across the UK. Their Application Support team is currently 23 people, 3 of whom specialise in payroll, HR and workforce support.

Your knowledge should include UK & Irish PAYE rules and legislation and you will have a good understanding of UK and Irish tax, NI deductions, pensions, pension auto enrolment, SSP, and SMP.

You will be responsible for responding to client calls and emails, logging your support cases, documenting errors, investigating bugs in the software and providing solutions to their payroll and HR queries, or escalating your cases to 2nd or 3rd line support where required.

Profile:

  • Experience as a Payroll Application Support Analyst or a strong background working in a payroll department using payroll software and a desire to make the move to a payroll software support role
  • Understanding of UK & Irish tax, PAYE, maternity and sick pay and NI and pensions
  • CIPP certification would be an advantage
  • Manage support requests in line with ITIL rules
  • You are able to interrogate problems, investigate root causes and work through queries thoroughly
  • You communicate empathetically with non-technical people
  • Professional on the telephone and able to write effective professional emails
  • Patient and understanding when dealing with payroll software queries
  • An inquisitive mind and excellent problem solving skills
  • Motivated, tenacious and able to work under pressure
  • Ability to assist with client training and user documentation
  • Any knowledge of the commercial construction or house building industries would be useful

This is a thriving global software company of around 350 people, who work collaboratively, and aim to give their clients the best experience they can have. As an Application Support Consultant you are at the front line of contact with their clients, and should be able to present a professional approach and build long lasting relationships.
